On July 3, 2025, our VP Operations, Mr. R. Balaji, represented AAJ SCM at the first meeting of the CII Northern Region Committee on Logistics and Warehousing for 2025–26. The meeting was led by the newly appointed Chair and brought together key industry leaders from across North India. The committee aims to support the National Logistics Policy, reduce logistics costs, and improve India’s Logistics Performance Index. It also focuses on building an efficient, tech-driven, and future-ready logistics ecosystem.

During the session, several important issues were discussed. These included infrastructure gaps in underserved states like Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh, and GST-related concerns on warehousing. The need for land near railway tracks, driver rest zones, and better use of CSR funds was also raised. The discussion covered the rising demand for A-grade warehouses and the impact of emission-related vehicle replacements on logistics costs. In addition, the committee addressed the shortage of skilled and unskilled labour, especially trained trailer drivers. The limitations of adopting AI and robotics in India were discussed as well, mainly due to high investment costs and short-term client contracts. Moreover, the committee highlighted the need to improve last-mile connectivity, enhance green logistics, and adapt to the fast-changing needs of modern trade and omni-channel retail.
